The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) sponsors four regional Integrated Pest Management Centers (IPM Centers). A primary purpose of the IPM Centers is facilitating two-way communication between agricultural stakeholders and federal agencies including USDA and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Washington State is part of the Western IPM Center.

From time to time, EPA asks questions of USDA in the course of EPA's work in pesticide registration and reregistration. USDA in turn poses these questions to agricultural stakeholders through the IPM Centers. Six Pacific Northwest states within the Western IPM Center (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington) began, in September 2002, to formally coordinate their responses to such inquiries through a Comment Coordinator. For each request, the Comment Coordinator gathers information from growers, commodity groups, Extension personnel, and others and then submits a response to the appropriate Federal agency. For more background on the Comment Coordinator position and summaries of Comment Coordinator activity see "Got Comments?" from the November 2003 issue of Agrichemical and Environmental News and the FY 08 Annual Report.

This page contains the various information requests received from EPA or USDA, the final response packages prepared by the Comment Coordinator, and other related documents. Note that this page does not include pesticide-related information generated by EPA such as Interim Reregistration Eligibility Decision documents. These and other registration-related documents can be found on EPA's Pesticides: Reregistration Website.

Inquiries are generally made about specific pesticide active ingredients. Accordingly, this page is organized alphabetically by active ingredient. For example, to see the communications regarding dimethoate, click on or scroll to the "D" section. Communications that cover policy issues, are crop-specific, or are otherwise not pesticide-specific, are found under the heading "General." Occasionally additional information is received after a formal response has been submitted. These addenda are identified below as supplemental responses.
