The
Washington State Pest Management Resource Service (WSPRS) serves
as a hub for research-based information about pest management practices,
including both chemical and alternative control methodologies. WSPRS
evolved from the Washington State University Pesticide Information
Center (PIC). We serve Washington State agricultural producers,
researchers, extension staff, and policy makers, making relevant
and accurate information widely available in a timely and accessible
manner. |

Dr.
Catherine H. Daniels
Director of WSPRS, Catherine serves as Washington
State's representative to the Western
Integrated Pest Management Center (WIPMC). Duties include reviewing
technical documents from USDA for FQPA-targeted agrichemicals and
collecting and disseminating information on pesticide usage and pest
management within the state. She facilitates the development of pest
management strategic plans (PMSPs) for Washington commodities and
develops and publishes crop
profiles for Washington State crops. Catherine also serves as
Assistant Editor of the Journal
of Pesticide Safety Education and reviews and approves all
WSU publications containing pesticide recommendations. Despite her
encyclopedic knowledge of pest management, she has been seen listening
(with a straight face) while her mother explains what a wonderful
landscaping tool Roundup herbicide can be. Catherine can be reached
at cdaniels@wsu.edu, (253) 445-4611
or (509) 372-7495. |

Jane
M. Thomas
As a Comment Coordinator
for
the Western Region Pest Management Center, Jane keeps EPA informed
of Pacific Northwest growers' and researchers' perspectives on proposed
regulatory actions and other matters concerning pest management. In years past, she has been known to don a jeweled crown and pen articles
for Agrichemical
and Environmental News in the guise of her alter ego, HRH
the Queen
Bee of Labels. Jane can be reached at jmthomas@tricity.wsu.edu
or (509) 372-7493. |

CharLee
Parker
Database coordinator for WSPRS, CharLee maintains
the voluminous electronic files that are the heart of our office.
By processing and sorting each and every pesticide label that comes
to WSPRS from the Washington and Oregon departments of agriculture,
CharLee offers our region's agricultural producers, researchers, and
policy-makers access to these labels in a searchable format known
as the Pesticide
Information Center On-Line (PICOL) label and tolerance databases.
She also serves as campus safety liaison for our office, which is
a good thing, because if anyone is likely to sprain a finger or catch
on fire from typing too fast, it would be CharLee. She can be reached
at clparker@tricity.wsu.edu
or (509) 372-7489. |

Geri
Leonard
Program assistant for WSPRS, Geri works with Catherine
Daniels to perform the exacting work of publication review. Before
any WSU faculty or staff member can release a statement advising a
member of the public about pesticide use, that statement must be formally
approved by our office. This requires Geri to spend countless hours
immersed in file cabinets containing thousands of pesticide labels.
However, as much as she loves her work, Geri has been known to drop everything
for a Mariner's game. Geri can be reached at gleonard@tricity.wsu.edu
or (509) 372-7340. |
